About DMA Health

Mission

Our mission is to expand access to quality, efficient, and equitable behavioral health services grounded in a commitment to social justice.

Vision

Behavioral health for all.

Values

DMA believes in a fundamental right to behavioral health, founded in part on a comprehensive system of prevention, treatment and recovery support for people with mental health and addiction challenges.  We are committed to the principle of “nothing about us without us.” Our work addresses social determinants of health, striving to achieve healthy communities based on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

What We Do

DMA Health Strategies conducts policy research, develops strategy and facilitates continuous improvement in healthcare organizations to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of services, implement evidence-based programs and expand the use of consumer centered approaches. We accomplish this through system reviews, management and policy research, procurements, group facilitation, and the development of effective marketing communications and proposals.  Throughout our work, the DMA team employs an equity lens as we engage community stakeholders, facilitate planning and improvement processes, conduct rapid cycle program evaluations, undertake data analysis and innovative visualization, and collaboratively and efficiently manage projects.  We work with program and system leadership to develop proven, innovative practices and strategies that reflect the expressed priorities and needs of people and communities served.

Since 1987 DMA has provided services that combine our experience in management, organizational behavior, research methods, public policy, and systems analysis. We have assisted public and private agencies that offer mental health, substance use, primary care, child welfare, and intellectual disability services. Much of our work has involved the design, procurement and implementation of managed behavioral healthcare and blended funding initiatives for states and counties. These projects have involved Medicaid, Title IV, Block Grants, and state and local funds for the delivery of health care to vulnerable populations. We are national leaders in the implementation of self-directed care and our work also includes quality improvement collaboratives and performance measurement in publicly funded healthcare systems.

Each public agency has a unique set of organizational, political, regulatory, legal, and financial requirements. Each community has a unique set of cultural, economic, and environmental strengths and challenges.  We pride ourselves on developing a customized solution for every client. We are particularly effective at balancing the needs of multiple constituencies to create workable and politically viable solutions.
